Product Details:
Dynamic Recrystallization Behavior of a Ni-Containing Austenite-Based Fe-Mn-Al Steel
Austenite-based lightweight Fe-Mn-Al-C steels can potentially lower the density of rolled homogeneous and high-hardness armor steels by as much as 15%. They can also be hardened through a combination of NiAl and kappa carbide precipitation after hot rolling processes. In that regard, the addition of Nb can control dynamically recrystallized grains growth. In the study, Fe-21Mn-8Al-7Ni-0.9C-1.0Mo steels with and without Nb addition were subjected to single-hit compression tests in the temperature range of 900 to 1,200°C using a quenching deformation dilatometer with the goal of determining the effect of Nb on the dynamic recrystallization behavior of these austenite-based, low-density Fe-Mn-Al-C steels.
